Despite their prehistoric appearance - particularly in flight - I find herons to be among the most intelligent of birds. And those eyes miss nothing! Lovely study.

@Ronnie 2¢: Is it a heron? I couldn't tell if it was a crane, heron, or stork. Do you know what's the difference?
