One of the fortune telling options in temples is the custom of drawing fortunes. Depending on what you draw, you are handed a piece of paper saying how your fortune will be in the coming year. If you get a bad fortune, custom says that if you tie it on a branch or a wire like this, it will ward off the bad fortune.

Great colors. The fade to black in the shadows at the top really helps the subject matter stand out. Interesting story too. Thank you for sharing what the image is.
