龍/ryuu/dragonPosted by e. (New York, NY, United States) on 26 April 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. A continuation on Japanese prayer ritual. This is the well for Nachi Taisha. When you approach the well, you use your right hand to pick up one of the long handled ladles you see lying there. Pour water over your left hand to wash it, and repeat with your right hand. Then, wash your mouth with a little of the water from the well and spit it out on the side. Last section of Japanese prayer ritual later. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. - Albert Einstein Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. - Shawshank Redemption

Craig from Vacaville, California, United StatesI love the reflected light in this shot e! 26 Apr 2008 11:05am tyan from Singapore, Singaporei like the idea of taking picture of the dragon against the light, gives it a mystic look somewhat:) 26 Apr 2008 3:35pm Shrig from NorthEast, United StatesWhat an interesting fact to go along with the photo. Is this a cleansing ritual of some kind or one to use before entering a temple? I like the red against the dragon, it adds a bit of drama to the shot. 26 Apr 2008 3:51pm Helen from Melbourne, AustraliaLovely atmospheric photo. I enjoyed your accompanying text as well, very interesting. 26 Apr 2008 9:21pm Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaCool shot. I really like the explanation. 26 Apr 2008 11:37pm Observing from Chester, United KingdomExcellent image and interesting note to go with it. I really like the red behind the dragon, it lift's the whole image. 27 Apr 2008 12:32am Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsVery moody picture! What a difference in culture, a figure such as this one I find beautiful but it would never stimulate me to prayer. 27 Apr 2008 6:10pm |
