steady

On our way back from the Sun Moon Lake, we stopped by a culture festival on the outskirts of the Lake.

It always amazes me whenever I see people doing calligraphy how steady they keep their entire body. Because even with the slightest rogue movement, the wrong pressure might be applied and the entire thing is messed up.

I heard somewhere that drawing calligraphy is like swordplay, and the best calligraphers are good swordsmen, is this true?

@Rags: I've heard that too, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll have to ask someone who's more knowledgeable about calligraphy someday. :)

I know about keeping the whole body still - its the same way when throwing on the wheel, especially when throwing something really tall. Any movement and your piece is no longer nice and round.

I agree with tyan. It's the first time I see an Eastern calligrapher at work, thanks e.! It's admirable what they do.

To see any craftsman or artist at work is, I think inspirational. It puts us photographers in a slightly different light, though, because only we can see what we are creating! Now, where’s my SX-70?
