watching from the shadowsPosted by e. (New York, NY, United States) on 6 November 2007 in Art & Design and Portfolio. The shadow was taken by placing Stephen's pumpkin facing the wall and since I didn't have a tripod, I stood there trying not to breathe and move for 10 seconds. I need a tripod. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are only two ways to live your life. 6 Nov 2007 8:22am Simon from Finegold, TaiwanWow, this is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Seriously, did it take the artist hours to carve this? Some of the details seem impossible to attain through conventional carving techniques. Did he have a lot of tools or did he just use one knife? Did he have to go through multiple pumpkins before getting this one? Sorry for all the questions, but seriously, this pumpkin was exquisitely carved. I just want to learn how to carve like that. Mine don't even come this close and I like to think of myself as artistic. 6 Nov 2007 9:32am Illuci from Netherlands, NetherlandsWow! I agree with Simon. Very impressive and artistic and I admire your standstill capacities! 6 Nov 2007 10:05am tyan from Singaporebut this is still so lovely! An amazing play of shadows dear e.! 6 Nov 2007 10:30am Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesDefinite Halloween mode here. I can't believe how steady your hand is, shooting this without a tripod is a real achievement. And yes, it is exquisitely carved. 6 Nov 2007 11:14am juant3 from Bremen, GermanyA very scary shadow which I would not like to see on my wall at night!!! Though, great composition and the movement shown while you "tried not to breath" gives the photo a mood of its own... Did you think about placing the cam on something to solve the "not having a tripod"? Cheers!!! 6 Nov 2007 1:05pm Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesPretty good for no tripod - i know how blurry my photos get when i do that. I always try to find something i can set the camera on. That usually involves several boxes to things in a box shape to just keep stacking until i get the camera where i want it. 6 Nov 2007 3:35pm Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomSuperb horror effect, and I heartily salute you on the 10-seconds standstill!! Absolutely brilliant work!! 6 Nov 2007 10:22pm Alicia from Novi, United StatesThat is really amazing. I can't believe you got such a great shot holding the camera still so long. I'm horrible at that. Way to go and great idea. 8 Nov 2007 2:30am |
