monksPosted by e. (New York, NY, United States) on 21 October 2007 in Documentary & Street. On Wednesday, October 17, the 14th Dalai Lama was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in honor of his efforts for peace, nonviolence, and universal acceptance. The next few photos will be of that event. Go here to start at the beginning. Many monks turned out for the event to celebrate and honor His Holiness. The Tibetan monks were allowed inside the Capitol to actually attend the awarding, but many monks, such as these, were outside, waiting for a glimpse of their revered figure. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are only two ways to live your life. I hope to see more of this series.. 21 Oct 2007 9:10am @Out Of Focus: We all got to see him, but only the people really involved with the Tibetan movement or the performers got to go see him up close. It was mostly for security reasons, since there were other important figures there as well. Amir from IranSo these are the buddist monks. Very nice capture.
